Celtic and Tony Mowbray part ways

He may have won most of his league games in charge of Celtic, but winning 17 of 30 matches isn't enough for the manager of an Old Firm club, and Tony Mowbray and Celtic have parted company. With Rangers ten points clear in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and with two games in hand, Mowbray simply had to do better. A shocking 4-0 defeat to St. Mirren last night was the final straw that broke the camel's back, and coach and Celtic Park legend Neil Lennon will take charge of the side for the foreseeable future - at least until a new manager is appointed.
Celtic will be hoping for a revival in fortunes with the appointment of former captain Lennon, and take on Kilmarnock on Saturday 27th March 2010. A new era is underway, and more than pride is at stake for they are looking over their shoulder at Dundee United in third place - eight points behind but with a game in hand.
