The tension is mounting in north London as players from around the world gather for one of the sporting events of the year.
In just over a week's time the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship gets underway at Alexandra Palace and the stakes could not be higher. For the first time in the sport's history there is a tournament prize pool of £1m with a staggering £200,000 going to the world champion.
Phil 'The Power' Taylor will be defending his crown and going for a quite extraordinary 15th world title but he will be under pressure from former world champions Raymond Van Barneveld and John Part while the youthful James Wade and abrasive Mervyn King will also be seeking to dethrone the great man.
The tournament starts on December 18th and concludes with the final on January 3rd. Tickets are available for every day of the tournament and many of the days have both an afternoon and evening session giving you the public yet more opportunity to see the best players in action.
